By day, Claire is a Product Manager and Kraig is a Lead Developer. In our spare time, Claire runs a wedding planning business and Kraig runs a web development practice. One Fine Plan is the first thing we've built together, and it started with our own wedding.
When we were planning our wedding in 2020, we went looking for tools to actually help us plan — a checklist to keep us on track, a budget we could manage properly, somewhere to pull everything together. What we found was pretty limited. So we ended up building our own wedding website for the day: somewhere guests could RSVP, note their dietary requirements, and find our gift registry. It did the job. But the bigger gap — the planning side — stayed with us.
Then came lockdown. When we found ourselves talking about what we'd build if we could build anything, One Fine Plan took shape. We sketched out the plans, mapped out a database, and got started.
That was years ago now. We've been slowly chipping away at it ever since, fitting it in around the kids and our day jobs — late nights in the home office, laptops on the couch, stolen hours on weekends. Every feature exists because one of us said "couples need this," or because someone testing it said "I'd love it if it did this."
Claire wanted to build it for the couples. She knows firsthand how much there is to hold in your head when you're planning a wedding, and wanted to make that part feel a little more organised. Kraig wanted to build it because he loves building — and because building it together made it the best kind of project.
There's no large team of people, no investors, no external office. Just the two of us and whatever spare time we can find. We hope you love using it — and that you only need it once.
